How should I store my cookies?
We recommend freezing. Your order is baked upon request. We do not use preservatives or added chemicals. They are packaged individually, which keeps them fresh for up to 10 days. If frozen in freezer proof bags they remain fresh for up to two months!
Do you welcome new wholesale accounts?
Yes, we welcome new accounts all over the country. Send us an email and we will send you our wholesale information.
What are organic cookies?
Organic cookies are cookies made without the use of added chemicals or preservatives. We use grains, nuts, fruits and dairy grown from organic farmers who work with nature to produce products grown without the use of pesticides and hormones. Many foods today are made from chemically engineered products. These products are hazardous to the earth and hazardous to our bodies.
Do you gift-wrap or take gift orders?
Our items are packed in royal blue boxes filled with individually packaged cookies, one or two dozen per box.
Do all your cookies contain dairy, sugar and nuts?
Yes, Blue Cottage Cookies are made from the finest organic ingredients that include dairy and sugar. We also bake with nuts on the premises so our cookies are not recommended for those with peanut allergies.
Do your cookies contain trans fats?
Our cookies are free of artificial preservatives, colors, flavors, sweeteners and hydrogenated fats.
Why do you not display the USDA Organic Logo?
We use ONLY organic products which are certified with the USDA Organic Logo. We are currently in the process of becoming certified. Certification is a third party source which verifies the origin and handling of the organic products as they are being processed. We can’t wait!
Why does organic food sometimes cost more?
Prices for organic foods reflect many of the same costs as conventional items in terms of growing, harvesting, transportation and storage. Organically produced foods must meet stricter regulations governing all of these steps, so the process is often more labor- and management-intensive, and farming tends to be on a smaller scale. There is also mounting evidence that if all the indirect costs of conventional food production—cleanup of polluted water, replacement of eroded soils, costs of health care for farmers and their workers—were factored into the price of food, organic foods would cost the same or, more likely, be cheaper.
Is organic food better for you?
There is no conclusive evidence at this time to suggest that organically produced foods are more nutritious. Rather, organic foods and fiber are spared the application of toxic and persistent insecticides, herbicides, fungicides and fertilizers. Many EPA-approved pesticides were registered long before extensive research linked these chemicals to cancer and other diseases. In the long run, organic farming techniques provide a safer, more sustainable environment for everyone.
